It’s time for Reverse the ‘Verse! Check out our transcript of the show!
TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read)
Ursa Rover is now in the works as well as its role. We’ll hear more about it soon.
Subscriber Flair released today which is a Hornet Tracker model. Concierge flair always released today which is a Top-hat and Monocle.
Track jacket sale next week for $49 with a bonus notepad and playing card set.
2.4 is currently locked down and the first build is being worked on by QA. Can’t say what’s in it yet, but they’re hoping to have two ships, one hangar, one flyable and some persistence.
2.3.1. may have a build pushed today or not, they’ll see.
Dogtags are going into production very soon and will ship May or June.
Gamescom tickets are on sale, however they’re not doing a traditional event such as a big presentation, but will have a booth and fan events planned so no need to worry about missing out on tickets as there will be no ticketed CIG events, just Gamecom
Carrack revisit has been kicked off. It’s not in production yet, but ideas are coming together to make sure everything will work for when the caterpillar finishes and those resources are freed up to work on the Carrack.
Herald is being worked on by Josh Coons and he’s working on the recently approved interior and exterior.
Hornet F7CA Military variant is being worked on by Chris Smith and is looking great.
Javelin has quite a few active resources on it at the moment.
Starfarer is in space trials at the moment and its damage effects is being worked on by Matt Intrieri
MISC Prospector is the name of the small mining ship thanks to Chris’s leak in 10 for the Chairman this past week.
BMM, Orion, Endeavour, Hull series, are still in a holding pattern for production until the second half of the year.
Dragonfly has been recently changed to not be able to have a quantum drive, however this is still subject to change until the concept is finalized.
Caterpillar has had internal concepts come in.
300i rework is still planned for later on in the year.
Chris wants the intakes on the Vanguard to glow like the concept, but it’s not a high priority right now
And now we have the good-old elevator music before the stream.
It’s soothing, calming music, perfect for a Friday afternoon. doo doo doot. doo doo doot.
‘This is an audio te- NO DON’T BELIEVE HIM THIS IS THE REAL THING’ Ben and Disco are being silly.
And the spiffy intro is now playing
Fancy new music this week. More jazzy than epic.
Feels like superhero theme music from the 70’s.
I see Ben, Alexis, Disco, and Justin. It’s time for Reverse the ‘Verse! Oh, and Tyler is a floating head. In Justin’s crotch. And Sandi is audible in the background.
There is now a loud buzzing noise. Disco just fixed it.
It’s starting off as a good stream. Tyler can no longer be heard. They’re just trying to fix things.
Lots of spaceship work this week by Ben. Lots of new designs for things we’ll see in the second half of the year. Carrack revisit has been kicked off, as has the rover.
Ground vehicles are in the works, as well as things to do with them.
Worked on Monthly Report this week, might come out later tonight, but it’ll be done. Some studios haven’t sent in their work yet.
A fan sent CIG a blanket like the one in the Starfarer’s Captain quarters.
10 for the Chairman was this week, Chris Roberts is back in Austin now.
Around the ‘Verse had a chat with Captain Richard this week.
Alexis – Subscriber flair released today. hornet Tracker model this month. Also released Concierge flair today, should be on your account. Won’t show up in Hangar inventory, it’s not an item, it’ll just appear in the game.
The Concierge flair is a top-hat and monocle.
Sandi and Alexis are visiting lots of warehouses tracking merchandise and such. Sandi went to McDonalds for the first time in about two decades.
Justin had an exciting week. He went on a cruise vacation, then edited some 10 FTC, edited another Loremakers, the works.
Sandi’s week – sorting out a track jacket sale for next week, with a bonus notepad. 49$ for track jackets, comes with the playing card set, starting Monday. And they’re working on some event merch for Gamescom and Cit Con. Sandi did lots of work on Gamescom this week.
Swag for Cit Con has been sorted out. Ben and Sandi have been talking sales all week. Lots of marketing ramping up.
Tomorrow they’re going to play through Secret Missions 2 on Twitch @1200 PDT
Patch 2.4 – Which Disco thinks he’s pronouncing wrong. There’s a new 2.3 patch in the works being tested, but 2.4 has ‘branched’, everything they want to include in it is being worked on with QA. They still cant’ say exactly what’ll be in it, but they’re aiming for persistence. They had a test build last week that had some persistent features. Working on another ship hangar, and another ship flyable, ready.
Jake Ross has talked a lot about Persistence in AtV News from Around the ‘Verse segments.
Still too early to say exactly what’s in 2.4, but it’s begin worked on.
Where’s my Spaceship!
Internal concepts for Cat are coming in. Sandi’s Facebook has a mystery ladder from the Cat.
Herald is in Austin – Josh Coons working on the interior and exterior of the Herald. Chris Smith is working on the Hornet F7CA the military variant.
UK are working on the Javelin. Lots of active Javelin work. Getting the Starfarer its space trials. They have builds where it’s flyable. Matt Intrieri is working on damage effects for the Starfarer. The MISC Prospector is the next concept ship. Much smaller individual mining ship.
We’ll see more of the Prospector soon. ‘Think of the Toyota car, they make cheap sedans, and then they make big trucks’, Ben likes the idea that they make consumer grade and industrial ships.
The BMM – is still waiting for people.
Carrack had a kickoff meeting for internals, making sure everything works in-game, Gurmukh is going to revisit it once the Caterpillar’s done.
And now it’s Q&A time. Ask questions in the RSI general chat. Ask them by typing [QUESTION] before your question.
[Can we ship Tyler and Lando?] Disco didn’t know what shipping means. Ben and Alexis are sure there’s Disco hentai out there.
Don’t send it to them though.
[Concierge flear wearble?] No. It’s just decoration.
But down the line they’d like to make it wearable.
[Big Benny’s machine in hangar?] Not sure when. Disco’s asked for it, but it’s out of his hands. Ben proposed an event where they do that, but it hasn’t been vetted or approved yet.
[Lynx and Ursa rover?] Ursa rover has been kicked off this week, they’re gonna talk more about it soon. lynx already has concept art.
[2.3.1 before 2.4?] Yes. They have a build they want to push today.
2.4 is still a ways off. It’s not ready yet.
[Sent you a graph with procedural trees, is this useful or a waste of time?] Anything you send them they’ll send on to the proper folks. They know who to send that stuff to. It’s the Germans.
[AtV fast forward?] Procedural build from a month and a half ago. Used it in the February show-and-tell. They were kind enough to let Community share it. It’s not even close to final, it’s continuing development. It’s showing things as they progress through development.
[New Concierge flair every month?] No. Last year they asked what kinda perks Concierge wanted, and flair was an overwhelming response, and they pulled some things from that thread to do. They’ll do more as they go forward, but it’s not a schedule like subscribers. Subscriber money pays to make the flair.
[X56 unbranded version of SC HOTAS?] Nope. They would have their development prototype if it were. it’s the gen before the SC HOTAS.
[Is it CIG’s current plan to have all announced ships flyable at commercial launch?] No? Depends what you mean by commercial launch. You can buy the game right now, so technically it’s been launched commercially. Everything from before the Endeavour should be before the end of the Beta.
Now they’re talking about how Batman vs Superman sucked.
The Rogue 1 trailer happened this week. It was good.
[Dogtags?] They’re going into production very soon. Probably another month or so till shipping.
Mousepads sold out quickly, they’ll be available in store again eventually. Patches might come back to the store too. They’re working on two sets of manufacturer patches right now.
[Dragonfly?] Its gone through the initial design process. Its either got a concept artist, or is going to one. There might have been some Dragonfly concept art posted today. Jim Martin’s doing the Buccaneer.
when I say Posted Today, it’s on their internal stuff. not anything we’d see
[Big ship sale?] How big a ship do you want?
[Day for Gamescom this year?] Gamescom tickets are already on sale. CIG are doing their event differently this year. They’re going to have several social events, and a booth on the show floor. No ticketed CIG event.
[Make the Rover red?] You can make the Rover any colour you want.
[Network backend rewrites pause development?] No. Rebuilding things is part of the process of literally any game ever. When you get in a car in GTA, that car’s been redesigned 30 times. The only difference is with SC you see it. If someone’s rewriting the code, they’re doing their job. It’s the difference between development and construction. Construction makes it all the way through. Development you’re trying to create and discover the end result.
Disco doesn’t like ME 2 as much as ME 1 because Disco is a smart person and ME 1 was the best game in the series.
[Rework of the 300 series?] Down the line, yes. It needs another work.
[What kind of headwear is Alexis’ favourite?] Alexis likes a beret? Like a knit floppy beret. Crocheted.
[How often will the AtV fast forward be?] Every week. Sneak Peek has been replaced with something more robust. Lets them show more.
[News on CIG livestream planned for Jan 16?] It didn’t happen.
Late last year they had an idea of doing a livestream every month or two, but when they got to it, it made more sense to put out a prepared video instead of a livestream.
January livestream was going to be to show off Gillian Anderson and some Xi’An Scout work. So we’ve seen it all already anyway.
[Price change on the Starfarer mean there’s a price change for the gemeni?] Yes.
[Ship mounted space shotgun?] If you’re a subscriber check out the vault this week, there’s a picture of that concept.
[RSI Orion?] Work on mining mechanic in general, but it’s still waiting for its turn.
[Video of finished LA office?] Soon. They’re still working on the lobby.
[purchasers of AMD GPU of Polaris line get a free Polaris?] No. No connection there.
Ben came up with Polaris during the meeting, were looking for something that said navy military. Ben went with Polaris cause of the ICBM’s.
RSI is normally spacey, they wanted something that fits that, but also feels more military. Name isn’t 100% yet.
[Explore Idris before game launch?] Don’t know yet. But check out the interview with Erin Roberts from AtV last week.
Ongoing debate about the Idris because it’s essential to a lot of SQ42 scenes. It’d be like putting out the sets to a movie before the movie. Ongoing discussion.
Idris isn’t ready right now anyway.
[Vanguard info?] No new info. Chris asked them to make the intakes glow like in the concept art. Not a high priority though.
[Everyone file monthly report on time?] Nope! Everyone was late except Tyler. They have them all in now, they’ve been sent to Toast aka Legal.
once RtV is done, Jared and Tyler go finish the post, then it goes to Chris for review, then to Toast for review, could be a late one.
[Tevarin updates?] No. Waiting on a look dev from Chris Olivia.
Envision loading a Caterpillar with some cheap dragonflys to raid a ship and carry home in a Cat. Dragonfly’s will be cheap and plentiful.
[Livestream at Gamescom?] There will be livestreams… Won’t have CR standing in front of a crowd of people giving a presentation. Skipping that this time. But CR will get in front of crowds and share lots of stuff. Lots of SQ42 stuff, Community team there, fans streaming, lots happening.
[More FPS weapons in voyager direct?] Down the line yeah, but it’s better to find them in the game than buy things in a cash shop. Eventually there will be in-game stores where you can buy weapons.
The Dragonfly does not have a Quantum drive according to Matt Sherman.
They’ll probably figure that out after the show.
Dragonfly just recently changed.
[longer video of subsumption sneak peek?] What there was last week was the whole thing.
[Alexis’ favourite ship?] Endeavour. She likes the pods. Also the M50, it’s a cool design.
M50 is Gary Oldman’s favourite as well.
Ben has made a few… amazing but so bad jokes about Erin and Chris.
And Disco’s telling stories.
Ben ‘Okay mister leak the entire game’
Ben, Alexis and Disco went to see Tomorrowland. Disco gets up, never returns. Turned out he’d gone back to the office to deal with the leak that he caused.
Disco has never seen the second half of Tomorrowland.
Biggest mistake Ben’s made – he forgot to cancel the Disney Movie club, so he has a copy of Tomorrowland Disco can have.
Disco knows a true story, but can’t explain himself without saying things.
So Lando’s the punching bag. Things be super serious.
Justin ‘You know what they say. What happens in CIG stays in CIG’ – That’s nothing that’s ever been said. It’s never, ever been said.
Justin saw the Rogue 1 teaser, said ‘I didn’t want to see more’ and now Hennessy’s super mad
Justin’s been a fan of Star Wars ever since Episode 1
This episode of RtV is brutal, and everyone’s just… wow. Destroying each other.
Hennessy has no beard right now.
I think Disco has just given up
Disco wants to go scream at a pillow for five minutes.
Don’t stay up for the Friday Night report. It (and The Relay’s summary of it) will be up when you wake up Saturday. Probably.
10 for the Chairman this week with CR. There’s an interview on the Alien Languages coming. Dave Haddock interviews one of the people creating the languages. Secret Missions livestream tomorrow. Watch Ben talk Wing Commander forever.
Going to see some things from Austin, including the return of Which Glitch, and something else
Shooting for Which Glitch in next week’s episode.
Disco ‘ look forward to getting older and eventually dying’
A polite Canadian who takes pride in making other peoples day brighter. He enjoys waffles with Maplesyrup, making delicious puns and striving for perfection in screaming at the T.V. during hockey games.
Erris is Canadian. He does some random things for Relay, no-one really knows what, but still they're stuck with him. He’s also written one Young Adult novel that he can’t stand, which can be found here.
