It’s Reverse the ‘Verse time with the community team. Check out The Relay’s Transcript of the livestream.
TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read)
CitizenCon Will be at the Avalon in Los Angeles Sunday, October 9th.
2.2 has another PTU going up today and a release candidate for live is undergoing testing and a no-go meeting will happen this afternoon.
2.2 will feature a flyable Sabre, Hangar ready Xi’an Scout, Physicalized EVA, Crusader reputation system, 24 player count and first iteration of lobby system(Very basic), And Freelancer damage states.
Xi’an Scout is now a single seater. This was originally planned months prior, but was not communicated past internal due to miscommunication. They’ll look to see if they can make it in the future, but the second seat was cut because design can’t have blocked seats like the Gladiator is right now which is also getting changes, but wont be losing it’s seat.
Later today a special discount will be available to backers with only a Aurora###li
Voip integration will not come until at least 2.5.
UI team is working on the new holotable.
HOTAS is still looking good and it’s not in peril, Madcatz simply had a bad quarter. We wont see a prototype until CIG and Madcatz are happy with the quality.
Blueprints for fans to be able to print 3D ships themselves takes a lot of work and as much as they would like to do it, it’s not feasible at this time. The Retaliator in the background for RtV was done by Firespikez and Combustable props who have an article on our site which you can find ###a href="here" class="redactor-linkify-object">http://imperialnews.network/20... on how much work it takes.
Starfarer is currently targeted for a 2.3 release.
BMM is on the long term schedule.
890 Jump was pushed back on the long term schedule.
Carrack was moved up on the long term schedule ahead of other ships.
Caterpillar concepts are almost done. This doesn’t mean they were overhauling, just figuring out some issues they encountered while modelling.
Herald has been handed off to Austin to finish as the Xi’an scout is in hangar and those resources can go to the Herald now.
Orion,Reclaimer,Endeavour are all in long term as their gameplay aspects have more focus than the ships themselves, IE. Mining.
No word on the Redeemer.
Prowler concepts are slated for later this year as they’re fleshing out the Tevarin, but it’ll be worth the wait.
The Reliant is very close, it’s undergoing its tech setup to bring it into the hangar.
Dragonfly is going to Art in LA.
They’re doing sound check again. You can just hear them over the lovely elevator music going on.
They seem to have a fancy new intro for the show. Zooming past planets and stuff, with epic music. It’s kinda cool.###li
I see Ben, Disco, Justin, Alexis, and Sandi. They’ve also got some fancy new graphics and stuff for the show.
it shows what segment of the show they’re on! Very cool.
‘Hard to believe that intro cost us 11 million dollars’ (they are joking, just to be clear)
Week in Review! And there’s a fancy box on the left that points out that it’s the week in Review now. Then there’s ‘where’s my spaceship’ that talks about all the ships. then ‘patch updates’ then ‘question and answer’ then what’s coming up ahead. I like the structure!
Ben’s week – via Sandi – Lots on ships, lots on concept ships. Working on new concept ships coming. Doing the ‘far future’ projections. Work on the Dragonfly and Polaris which are in LA for design, will go out for art soon. Lots of work on existing ships too.
Ben just hit 10,000 pages of Wing Commander docs scanned. Also lots of testing of 2.2 and planning for the rollout. Lots more interviews and gamescom planning and citizen con venues locked down. Same venue as last time in LA. For 2016, it’s in LA, called the Avalon.
Chris is back so 10 ftC’s were filmed.
Act one for Making of Star Citizen is gonna be filmed, gonna be a bit fancier. Shooting that Thursday, that’ll come with the game.
Tony Z’s in town too.
Format changes to Around the ‘Verse this week too. Lots of help from Sandi for that. Making it more friendly to new backers explaining who and what’s going on in AtV.
Wonderful World of Star Citizen came back – check out Twitch streamer DJ Knight (?) who was featured on that.
Watch after the credits of this week’s AtV for a good outtake.
Alexis’ week – planning for concierge popup party next week. If you’re concierge and received an email last week and RSVP’d you’ll get an email today with more info.
So many responses from German backers there’ll have to be a couple different events.
Feb. Subscriber edition of RtV went up this week, members of the Lore team were there.
Cherie loves Wikipedia. She felt bad she’d insulted Wikipedia.
Sandi’s week – she’s in the middle of an email. Went over legalese for next great star marine. Decided on logo and prizes, working on locking down some sponsors. Finished Cit Con Avalon contract. Those tickets’ll go up relatively quickly. Date is early, Sunday, October 9th.
The Relay will be there
expanding on Gamescom event and what’s gonna happen there. Sending community team to Frankfurt for a week then UK for a week. Community won’t be at Dragon Con, but some CIG members will be.
They’re going to spend 3 weeks in Europe together in August.
The Relay will have some presence at Gamescom as well, so look for us there!
There’s going to be a special discount on a 300i for people who only have an Aurora, should be going up today. Unclear on the details.
Apparently Disco has something special planned, but we can’t know what it is.
And now onto a new segment of RtV – Where’s my Spaceship!
Targeting Starfarer hangar- ready for 2.3. People with a Gemini will get the regular in hangar.
UK are perfecting it forever. It was ready, but then they decided to add a bay window.
BMM – on the long term schedule.
890 Jump – Same deal as the BMM. They moved the 890 Jump a bit further to move the Carrack up.
Carrack – got moved up in the schedule.
Caterpillar – concepts are almost done. Wrapping it up soon. Will be moving on to either the Carrack or Concept (Gurmukh that is). The Cat isn’t getting drastically redesigned, but it’s getting the insides figured out. Deep dive into the interior, figure out the gameplay functionality, etc…
Cat is staying asymmetrical.
Herald – kicked into Austin for finishing. The people who were working on the Scout are heading onto the Herald.
Orion and reclaimer are long term. Mining’s getting a look, but the ship itself is long term.
Big functional ships are getting more work on mechanics than the ship themselves.
Redeemer – No comment on the Redeemer.
Prowler concepts – been scheduled for later this year. They’ve had a fire lit under them in regards to the Tevarin.
Reliant – very close, undergoing tech setup now. Might be very close to done, expect it in an upcoming patch.
PTU released this week. Additions in 2.2 – physicalised EVA, flyable sabre, 24 player max, scout in hangar, new reputation system (first iteration), changes to the layout of Crusader so it’s more realistic.
They did a new ‘exclude’ process mid-month which screwed things up a bit, but it’ll make things faster in the future. There was a missing light early on that was screwing lots of things up, but it’s better now.
Another build hopefully going out later today for the PTU. Build being put together right now, looking good. Potential release candidate. Not sure if live tonight, they’ll figure that out later today.
The Scout morphed from a 2 seater to a 1 seater. They looked into why it happened and how to make it not happen again.
Several months ago a tech producer (no names will be given) looked at the Scout, looked at the 2 seater, said you can’t have a ship where one person is blocking it. It’s a problem with the Gladiator right now and they’re fixing it up with that now. can’t have one person blocked in.
Their response was okay, remove the extra seat. There was no function yet. But it was never communicated. It went into Confluence internally, but never got to design or Community.
It was like the Mars probe that mixed up Imperial and Metric. They’re gonna look at a way to have a second seat, but they can’t promise anything.
They found out the day they were filming the 10 for the Devs.
Sabre flyable seems to be going well. As is the Scout, since the Scout is stunning.
The EVA system is coming along. It still has a ways to go, but it feels good anyway. Controls are much more similar to the flight controls.
Sabre is still getting some handling changes and such. Not maneuverable enough right now. Moves like a Vanguard, needs to be more mobile.
Crusader is now closer in line to its intended size, as is Yela. There will be huge gas giants. They’re making Crusader smaller because it’s actually small in the ‘Verse.
The Sabre again – ‘it might not be a stealth ship’ Ben said it’s not a stealth fighter, in his head he was thinking like a stealth bomber. The Sabre is a dogfighter with an emphasis on stealth. It’s a modern air superiority stealth fighter. F-22, F-35. Fight other aircraft, be stealthy.
As opposed to a B2 or something. Ben had in his head an actual stealth stealth ship, angular and radar absorbent, that they’ve been thinking about for later in the year.
The Sabre isn’t getting a design change. It’s still very stealthy.
Ben has lots of ship info in his head. There’s a 300 email thread talking about Ship Classifications right now categorizing everything Ben’s ever said. His brain has too much Wing Commander sometimes.
The Scout – the change is not at all indicative of it not being a scout or to any reduced plans for exploration. Exploration will remain to be one of the biggest things in Star Citizen.
And now, Question time!
[With recent patch, ships seems slower. Will this be addressed?] It’s not forever. They experience with different sets. Provides lots of information on the ships. Time to kill is a big issue. PU needs a little bit slower combat and they’re experimenting with different ideas.
There’ll be constant changes. There was a persistent bug with SCM in the PTU though, SCM was locking people at a certain speed. That was a bug.
Freelancer now has damage states too in the patch. Party time.
[Editing software?] Adobe Premiere.
Hennessy’s talking, but I can barely understand him, sorry.
It’s a giant echoy blurb of him talking about video editing.
[VOIP integration?] Probably not till 2.5 or so.
[HUD for Vanguard?] Soon hopefully. Lots of ship have temporary huds. UI team are working on it. UI team are working on the new holotable this week.
Everyone hates the holotable.
It’s too early for questions about release stuff.
[Nyx?] Austin just dropped a lot of art. As soon as Tony’s happy with it, we’ll see it. Wants a sense of awe when we first play it. And everyone defers to Tony cause he’s Tony. They won’t show it till it’s ready.
There’s been so much iteration on art things that they hope to show someday.
[Idris auto turrets?] They were in the Vault this week. there were three options for auto turrets; you control those turrets from the Bridge. Ben forgets which Chris wne tiwth (his brain says C, but his brain might be wrong).
[Update on Wall of Honour?] Not hung up yet. Hennessy says it is hung up. They still have to put some more stuff in with it, lighting and things, but technically it’s in the under-construction lobby.
Moving into the new office, the dev side was set up, the Community side was set up, but the lobby wasn’t done at all. Over two months they’ve been building the front deck and such, blasting a hole for the front door, it’s just not done yet.
Wall of Honour was something done after the first year. Everyone subscribed at Imperator level got their names on a Wall of Honour. They never hung it up before cause they knew they were moving, but it’s being installed now.
[planetary landing updates?] No updates now, but there will be one in the future. Ben saw a thread on Reddit this morning saying someone was gonna ask about it this morning. Specifically that apparently. The first landing zone you’ll have in the PU? Confusing statement, sorry.
[Did all the furniture come with the office?] Hennessy makes an appearance. Normally he wouldn’t come out to answer that, but… the stuff we can see on RtV was all built. They got it from Home Depot. They built the room. The table is a table that came from CR’s old office. Hennessy stole it. Sometimes they steal it back. It’s the old 10 ft C table.
Hennessy built the room on Rock and Roll
[What’s on the shelf behind Alexis?] They’re called Sum Sums. Something Disney created to be like a Japanese trinket toy. Cute weird little beanbags. It’s the star wars collection.
Also there’s the hat that Freddie Prinze Junior wore in the Wing Commander movie.
[When are more ships going on sale?] Talking about having a ship maaaaaybe late March for the next concept. new ships will go on sale with 2.2 goes live though. Scout and Sabre will be brought back.
[HOTAS updates?] Yes. There’ve been all sorts of rumours and MadCatz earning statement hubbub. They had a bad quarter, but their numbers still look good. CIG are still committed to working with them, but they’ve said they want a production prototype to make sure the sticks are high quality before they let them go to sale.
Everything they’ve seen has been positive though.
[More physical ship merchandise? Small-scale models?] Potentially yes, but not right now. Focusing right now on collectors box and Connie model in that. That’ll help them do more in the future.
They’ve had lots of meeting about shipping in the past few weeks. They’re working on fixing up their shipping of physical merchandise.
[3D printer plans for ship minis?] They’ve talked about it. It takes a lot of bandwidth cause there are different types of 3D printers.
Ben is taking a minute to plug it. Made by David Ladyman and Ryan Archer. Not connected to Star Citizen in any way.
[DX 12 and Vulcan support?] Need to ask a tech person, not the Community team.
Wing Commander story from Ben – the Windows 95 port still tries to put DX 2 on your PC. They never considered there’d be later DX versions.
[Sneak Peek] Was the Reliant.
Still in Greybox, moving into final art. But it’s coming along.
Apparently Time Warner Business Class Internet is pretty cool.
Now for the final section – looking ahead!
Check Sandi’s Facebook to see a John Rhys Davies head!
Will Leverett’s saying the new build is being tested by QA right now. There’ll be a go / no go later today. They go into any PTU build hoping to push it to live. No guarantee, but they’d like to go live tonight.
10 for the Chairman on Monday.
Next weeks AtV should have an interview with Pedro
Check out The Relay’s interview with him by CmdrCruisin’Tom if you’d like
New format was excellent.
Monthly report next week probably.
RtV will include the new overlay for the foreseeable future, cause it’s awesome.
