Calling All Devs
A system designed to give positional data to the player, friends and other people, is a wanted feature from the community and the developers. The intrinsic large dimensions associated with space, the solar system properties as well as the point of origin create difficulties for creating a feasible coordinate system which is easy to understand and handle. To properly address a point in space you need to address the place of the solar system and the exact point in the solar system. To pinpoint these locations in meters would result in unwieldy large numbers for the players to share. Extra difficulties arise when a players position is on a planet which is rotating on its own axes as well as a star. When the System Design Team has created the universal standard for coordinates the UI will also have to have a final say in the implementation.
The tier zero implementation of salvage will not support the extraction of ship parts as well as fuel. Salvaged ships will be ground down as a whole. Maybe in later implementations the play could get fuel out of a salvaged fuel tank or parts be extracted with specialised equipment like Vulcan drones for example.
The Banu Merchantman is still intended to be a trade ship, with shops or stalls inside. It has short to mid term facilities for guests, intended for use during meetings. The speed of the Banu Merchantman has been reduced due to its size and mass. CIG also stated that there will be an interplay between the Banu Merchantman and the Banu Defender which they haven’t talked about yet. This information and more will be talked about in an future ship shape episode.
There are no current plans in the near future for the implementation of human trafficking. First parts of it may be introduced alongside with the bounty hunting mechanics though trading NPC slaves or players is not on the current roadmap as of yet.
